Magazine Advert

My magazine advert uses the same image as my final digipak design therefore, when an audience member looks at either they would be able to identify and recognise the band, creating synergy and the uses and gratifications theory between my products. The Butterly attached to the 'A' of my band name helps to signify the narrative of my music video and links with the lyrics of the song. Also, the wavy font used for the song title 'Hard Times' does the same as someone suffering from mental health issues may feel uneasy and unsteady at times. The lower bottom half of my advert has dark black and grey stripes along it as this helps to make the dark, white font stand out because it includes important information saying that my bands single is out now. By including the logo and ad for iTunes, it enables my target audience to know where to buy my bands single, helping to promote my music and band and ensuring that they can have as much popularity and success as possible. I have also included the web address of my website which would once again, raise the popularity of my band and help to push my target audience visit that website where they would maybe purchase more products and find out more about my band. Both of the record labels logos that my band are signed to have been added to the bottom of my magazine advert which helps to promote them and also other artists signed to them companies. I believe that my magazine advert conforms to the codes and conventions of the alternative rock genre as the colouring of black and white follow the stereotypes associated with the genre. Also, the band having mostly serious facial expressions reflect that the song is about a serious topic such as depression which links to the genre too.
