Location Shots
For my music video, I have used a variety of location shots which may be slightly different in relation to my chosen genre of alternative rock but, it links in with my storyline of the main character going about her everyday lifestyle and is vital in the audience understanding the plot.
Performance:
There were three different locations that I chose to film in for my performance-side of my music video. Two were largely used and one was used for a particular scene. This short scene involved the main character waking up and singing the first two lines of the song therefore, this clip also links in with the narrative of my video. I wanted to film the character waking up with the depression next to her and sing the song straight away in order to set a tone for the video and allow the audience to think about its storyline and meanings. The two main locations were the drama room and the photography room in school. Using the drama room was helpful as there were big, black curtains which helped to block out the window light and create a plain, black background. The lighting was produced from the professional stage lights attached to the ceiling, these enabled me to set different levels of lighting which created certain moods. However, the most prominent colour used was simply normal clear, yellow-toned lights in order to see all members of the band and details included within the shot. The photography room was also efficient for filming as the background was already black but with flecks of things attached to it however, this is suitable for my genre as it adds to the carefree, laid-back attitude of my band. There are also random pictures hanging down within the location which again, is appropriate for the genre as not everything has to make sense.

Narrative:
The storyline of my music video is about a girl going about her normal day with her depression following her therefore, due to the contextual features, there will be a lot of different locations. The first location is my house where numerous rooms are used to help the storyline flow. Using my house enabled me to use whatever I wanted and to film wherever and whenever which helped to move filming along and get it done as quickly as possible. It was also useful in terms of lighting as the windows helped for natural lighting and then the lights added any more required brightness. More scenes were filmed outside houses on the street and in lanes which once again, was helpful with the lighting because I used the daylight for it. Other clips were done in school using the outside areas and the hallway to further the plot of it being the main character's everyday life. The majority of shots were filmed on the common which led into a forest where the main character kills herself. This follows the typical conventions of an alternative rock genre as there are lots of trees and hidden areas within these types of locations and therefore, creating a sense of mystery and danger too which would build tension for the audience.
